Here
are some of our most frequently asked questions.
-
Where
does LOOKLE get its search results from?
LOOKLE is an "intelligent" search engine
that simultaneously searches a variety of data sources.
It is constantly scanning the internet, focusing on
Australian content, visiting directories, talking
to site owners, looking at who is doing what and where.
Affiliations and partnerships provide a huge chunk
of advertisers sites followed by submissions and recommendations.
Yahoo Australia is also currently proving a customised
data feed.
-
I
can't find xyz result. Why not?
Try either being more specific or more generalized
in your search queries. Refer also to our Advanced
Search section. Click
here for more details.
-
Why
isn't there as many results as other bigger search
engines?
The major search engines index millions and millions
of pages from all kinds of web sites, good and bad.
At LOOKLE our technology filters out a lot of the
clutter and thus we may have less results. However
we believe our results are very relevant which saves
our users a lot of time.
- Does
LOOKLE earn money from the web sites it includes?
YES. Some of the results stem from sites that are advertisers,
affiliates or partners of LOOKLE.
- Why
is LOOKLE donating money to charities?
Recently
LOOKLE was set to embark on a mega advertising campaign,
spending thousands of dollars on self promotion. Its
founder had a gut feeling there had to be a smarter
way. He thought why not divert the advertising budget
to charities and schools, which is a great thing to
do and will surely encourage users to tell others about
LOOKLE. This is known as word-of-mouth advertising and
is VERY effective. As the word spreads and more people
use LOOKLE, more money will be paid to worthwhile causes,
more advertisers will sign up with LOOKLE and effectively
everyone wins. The LOOKLE DONATIONS SYSTEM (Patented)
was invented for this purpose.
- I
found a web site on LOOKLE that I believe isn't very
reputable. Can I report it?
Absolutely. We need to hear about any experiences good
or bad our users may have with any of the sites included
on LOOKLE. If bad we will certainly investigate further
and this may lead to that site becoming banned. LOOKLE
tries to filter out adult sites, racist and other objectionable
material when ever possible.
- How
do I include my own web site for free?
There is no direct method of free inclusion in LOOKLE.
Generally speaking if your site is out there on the
Internet, chances are it will come up in LOOKLE. Of
course you can advertise on LOOKLE and your site will
become very prominent. Click
here for more details.
- Can
I put a LOOKLE search box on my web site and earn revenue?
YES. LOOKLE has an Affiliate program which pays an amount
per search, generated from a search box you can place
on your site. Refer to the Affiliate
section for more details.
- Will
LOOKLE ever get listed on the stock exchange and sell
shares?
Possibly. Although LOOKLE is currently a privately held
Australian owned business, it reserves the right to
become a public company in the future.
- Why
is LOOKLE a little slower than some of the bigger search
engines?
To put it simply, LOOKLE is not yet a billion dollar
corporation. Therefore our resources are not as vast.
We cannot afford to have hundreds of engineers working
around the clock across the globe. However as we grow
so will our resources. Our response time generally is
only a fraction slower than other engines (approx 2
seconds), but consider that our clutter free quality
results tend to compensate for that slight delay.
