HISTORY & FUTURE OF LOOKLE
LOOKLE was created in Melbourne, Australia, in early to mid 2000. Its name being derived from the words 'Look Learn Engine'. LOOKLE has since gone through various styles and changes but remains 100% Australian owned and operated, steadily growing in size within Australia and planning to reach out internationally in the future.

HOW LOOKLE WORKS
Apart from the new 'Donations System' as described above, LOOKLE's core function is best described as a powerful search engine. Currently LOOKLE accepts a special data feed from Yahoo Australia which has been fine tuned to return Australian orientated web site search results only. The quality, integrity and speed of the search results are maintained with every search.

THE TECHNOLOGY
LOOKLE utilizes the ingenuity and sheer brilliance of some of the worlds finest search engine engineers and programmers as the backbone for a search engine that is responsive and very accurate. High capacity, throughput, and redundancy, Linux-based search architecture delivers maximum up-time and dependability. LOOKLE delivers quality search results every time.

SPECIAL FEATURES TO MAKE SEARCHING FASTER & EASIER
In addition to normal web site searching LOOKLE also provides specialised searches:-

Thumb shots of various web sites are displayed when available, in addition to a very handy 'Quick Look' window feature which enables users to open up sites in small drop down windows, whilst still remaining within the LOOKLE results page. By using 'Quick Look' users can immediately see if the site is what they want, and if not they simply close the 'Quick Look' window back up and continue on to the next result.

LOOKLE also provides a quick and easy way for users to refer links they find to either themselves or to friends. They simply click on

'Email a Link' icon and up pops a special window.

BUSINESS MODEL & ADVERTISING
It's important to note that although LOOKLE has developed a patented Donations System, it still remains a commercial enterprise, just like most other search engines throughout the world. LOOKLE generates revenue primarily through affiliations, paid for inclusion agreements and keyword targeted advertising. Sometimes revenue may be in the form of indexing fees and/or commissions on referred sales.
